However, Spurs lost 1-0 to West Ham United on a night that saw third placed Arsenal lose 2-1 to Swansea City and League Cup winners Manchester City getting crushed by Liverpool 3-0.

The results kept Leicester three points clear of second-placed Tottenham, with Arsenal in third place three points further adrift. City are now 10 points behind the leaders and level with Manchester United who beat Watford 1-0.

West Ham scripted a memorable win over Tottenham thanks to a perfectly placed header by Michail Antonio in the seventh minute.

The biggest shock was Arsenal’s loss to a club which is fighting a relegation battle. The defeat was even more shocking as Arsenal had taken a 1-0 lead after 15 minutes.

Swansea’s Wayne Routledge equalised after 30 minutes of play while captain Ashley Williams scored the winner in the 74th minute, making it a night to forget for the championship aspirants.

It was Arsenal’s third defeat in succession in all competitions and their seventh of the league campaign.

Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger said that the team was really unlucky with the finishing and some decisions. They now face Spurs in a crucial match on Saturday.

Liverpool exacted revenge for their narrow defeat in the League Cup final on Sunday by crushing City.

Goals by Adam Lallana, James Milner and Firmino guaranteed Liverpool’s win and pushed them up to eighth place in league standings.
