TechnoratiFrench Greens open presidential primary
France’s Greens launched the primary for their presidential candidate on Wednesday evening with the third debate between the four environmentalists vying to represent the party in the 2012 election.
The election will take place online from 16-23 June.

The primary is open to anyone who registered to vote before last Friday – registration was open to anyone online. All you had to do was agree to values put forth in the global Greens charter, and donate a minimum of 10 euros to the party.
The party, which held a pre-election national conference two weeks ago, has assured voters that the list will not be made public, and that it is indeed a secret ballot.
In the next two days, those who registered will be sent a package, including the candidates’ statements and a login and password to vote online, although those who want to can vote by mail.
The four candidates are:
- TV personality Nicolas Hulot;
- Former magistrate and MEP Eva Joly;
- Anti-nuclear activist Stephane Lhomme;
- Henri Stoll, the mayor of Kayserberg in Alsace.
Results will be known on 29 June – with a second round of voting planned for the week after if there is no clear winner.
