Air traffic back to normal across Europe

Traffic has returned to normal at Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airport with nearly all flights due to leave on time as of Christmas morning. Peaceful weather across much of Europe has permitted air traffic to flow as usual after hundreds of passengers spent the night at airports in Paris and Brussels.

France’s main autoroutes showed few problems, while delays on high-speed trains are limited to eastern France

Snow, ice and a lack of preparedness stranded hundreds of travellers at Paris’s main aiport, as more than 400 flights were cancelled and 30,000 travellers were affected on Christmas Eve.

Some 2,000 people were evacuated from terminal 2E as a precautionary measure due to excessive snow accumulation on the roof.

Airport authorities reported that they did not have enough wing de-icer, but they did have toys for tots, a Christmas Mass and somehow arranged for Santa Claus to make an appearance despite it being his busiest work night of the year.
