Tens of thousands of protesters marched through central Paris on Sunday to protest against austerity measures and Europe's new budget teaty. The European fiscal pact will be debated in the French parliament on Tuesday. The event was the first major demonstration since President François Hollande took office four months ago but organisers denied the protest was aimed at the government.
