In Sunday's local elections in Belgium, Flemish nationalist leader Bart De Wever's party secured big wins in major cities at the expense of both the extreme right Vlaams Belang party and the Socialist Party. De Wever proposes a clear split between the Dutch and the French-speaking parts of Belgium, with more autonomy and possibly independence for each part. RFI spoke to Stefaan Walgrave, a political scientist in the city - Antwerp - that was crucial to De Wever's political breakthrough.
