Ex-banker says 15 big French names with Swiss accounts

As the French scandal surrounding tax-evasion by former ministers grows, a former Swiss banker tells the French weekly Le Journal du Dimanche that he knows of at least 15 other French people who had, or still have, bank accounts in Switzerland.

Pierre Condamin-Gerbier told the paper that from the 15 with such accounts, many of them are “big names”. This former employee from Reyl & Cie bank, further questions the scandal that began with the French Budget Minister Jérôme Cahuzac, who has already faced questioning before judges.

“I can simply say today that on this list there are some big names from French politics; people whom we are used to seeing on television”, said Condamin-Gerbier. “Some are even people who are more known to the public than Jérôme Cahuzac” added the ex-banker.

According to Le Journal du Dimanche, Condamin-Gerbier, has not yet decided “for the time-being” how he will make this list public.

“I am waiting for the right conditions, mainly in terms of protection and security for my family” explained the former banker.

He already made mention of this list before a parliamentary committee this past Thursday.
