France authorises Brussels anti-Semitic gunman’s extradition to Belgium

France’s top appeal court has cleared the extradition of the French-Algerian man suspected of shooting dead four people at the Jewish Museum in Brussels in May.

The Cour de Cassation on Wednesday ruled the Mehdi Nemmouche, 29, can be sent to Belgium in 10 days.

Nemmouche had dropped his appeal against a June extradition order after receiving guarantees that he would not be sent on to another country, according to his lawyer, Apolin Peziepep.

He had feared that he would be extradited to Israel for the 24 May shootings, in which a Jewish couple, a French woman and a Belgian man were killed.

He was arrested in the southern French city of Marseille on 30 May with a revolver and Kalashnikov in his luggage.
