Turkish school boycott protests compulsory religious education

Turkey has exhausted legal objections to a ruling by the European Court of Human Rights against Ankara's refusal to exempt the country’s largest religious minority from compulsory religious education. Last month protests erupted across the country during a one-day boycott of schools in protest against the introduction of religious education for pupils as young as five.
