Kosovo series, part 5/5

Issued on:

People from Kosovo make up the third largest group of migrants to apply for asylum in Germany this year - after Syria and Albania. Overwhelmed by the sheer numbers of asylum-seekers from war-torn countries, two weeks ago, Berlin named Kosovo a safe place of origin - that means the chances of Kosovars getting asylum there are virtually zero. A small but significant percentage of those looking overseas for work are young and educated. In the final report of RFI’s series on Kosovo, Thomas Lowe finds out what’s pushing them to leave - and what it means for Europe’s newest state.
