Is there a Paris street prostitution boom?

French daily newspaper Le Parisien claims that these times of economic hardship are pushing sex workers above ground. The streets of Paris, its surrounding suburbs, forests and the internet are are bearing witness to this, it says, citing government estimates that 20,000 sex workers currently operate in the country, 80 per cent of them from countries outside France. Is that true?
