It's 'la rentrée scolaire', which means that 12 million children all over France went back to school Thursday, after a two-month holiday. But this coming school year promises to be a difficult one. School reforms are in full swing and teachers are being fired on a massive scale, with another 16,000 positions to be cut this year. And the first strikes have already been announced.
