Spiderman strikes back at French television station

Dressed in orange trousers, a black windbreaker and climbing shoes, the French Spiderman, Alain Robert scaled yet another building on Tuesday evening. Robert, who is 48 years old, climbed the façade of a French television building measuring some 60 metres.

Robert arrived on foot at the Bolloré tower, just outside Paris a little before five o’clock to make preparations. Before beginning his ascent he took the elevator to survey the summit and get his bearings.

He then began to scale the structure, which houses the French television station Direct 8 and in less than 20 minutes he dominated the 57 metres under the dumbfounded gaze of spectators.

“Uncomplicated” and “no stress” is how Robert described the tower. He said only rain could have caused him problems.

“We started to determine a climbing strategy just over a week ago,” said Spiderman. “I came last Sunday to do a rehearsal of the climb.”

The Bolloré tower becomes one of 115 skyscrapers Robert has tamed. As well as the Eiffel Tower he has scaled Chicago’s Sears Tower and Taipei’s 101 which stands at more than 500 metres.
