France debates euthanasia law

Romain Vincens/Open accessThe French Senate is debating a controversial law oneuthanasia overnight. Debate has been influenced by two cases - Vincent Humbert, whose mother helped him die after he was paralysed after an accident, and Rémy Salvat, a 24-years-old dying of a rare disease, who killed himself. The Catholic church and many politicians who still think that trying to help a patient live as long as possible is better, and morally more justified than helping him to die.
