A French soldier was killed and 9 others wounded in Afghanistan on Wednesday, after an improvised explosive device went off during an operation in Kapisa province.
The soldier who died was a corporal with the 2nd Marine Infantry Regiment, and the injured were also marines.
A statement from the French presidency said that the president had learned the news “with much sadness”, but expressed “France’s determination to continue to work with the International Security Assistance Force” (Isaf) in Afghanistan.
