Strauss-Kahn invited two Sofitel employees to his room, says press report

Two female employees of the Sofitel hotel in New York have told police they were invited up to the room of former IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn the night before he was arrested on sexual assault charges.

Both women refused his invitation, but footage from a video surveillance camera show

Strauss-Kahn in a hotel lift at 1.30am accompanied by a woman who did not work at the hotel.

The women has been identified, but has refused to answer questions by investigators into the reason for her visit to the hotel. According to a report in the New York Times, the following morning Strauss-Kahn ordered a single breakfast in his room.

Strauss-Kahn was later arrested the same day after he was accused of sexual assault by a hotel maid.
