Farmers fight west France airport plan

Plans have been announced for the construction of a new international airport in western France. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2014. The idea is to develop the regional economy and ease traffic at Paris's two main airports. Developers also claim the existing airport at Nantes is overcrowded and too close to the city centre. But some locals are up in arms at the prospect of seeing their farmland turned into a major air hub.
