Video cameras in Paris in bid to reduce crime

Coyau/Wikimedia CommonsThe Paris city authority has launched a plan to install a thousand new video cameras around the city in a bid to fight crime and allay fear of crime. Hundreds are already in use in the underground public transit system. Although Paris is still far behind comparable cities such as London, which has thousands of cameras, police say the equipment is already helping them solve crimes. Not everyone, however, is happy with the idea of being watched.
