The jihadi group led by Algerian Mokhtar Belmokhtar has threatened more attacks in Niger, follwoing two suicide car bombings that killed at least 20. In a statement on Islamist internet forums it threatened France and other countries involved militarily in battling armed Islamists in Mali.

The French parliament started its new session yesterday with MPs debating issue from youth employment contracts to gay marriage. One issue that is not up for discussion, though, is MP's expenses. But some 100,000 French citizens have signed a petition calling for more transparency.
