French childminders form union

The shortage of places in state-run nurseries in France means a growing number of working mums rely on childminders. There are around 90,000 nationwide. In the Paris region most are of African origin. They say the profession is both undervalued and open to abuse. The newly formed union of childminders is trying to improve the situation.
