‘The Intouchables’ actor becomes France’s favourite
French actor and comedian, Omar Sy who starred in The Intouchables has been named France’s most popular personality taking over from former tennis player, Yannick Noah who has held the title since 2007.

Sy was announced the winner of Le Journal du Dimanche’s bi-annual poll published on Sunday ahead of actor Gad Elmaleh who placed second and Noah who came in third.
34 year-old Sy won a César Award for Best Actor this year for his role in The Intouchables which was seen by 48 million people around the world.
He was praised for his role in the film as a caretaker for a wealthy quadriplegic aristocrat in Paris.
The film has been selected as France’s submission for the 2013 Academy Award’s foreign language category.
Also ranking in the national popularity poll was former footballer Zinedine Zidane who went from 5th to 8th place and President François Hollande who moved from 15 to 45th position.
The survey which was conducted by French polling centre Ifop earlier this month asked more than 1000 French people to rank their top ten personalities from 58 names.
