Should French universities have classes in English?

France’s parliament today begins debating a Socialist government proposal to allow university classes to be taught in foreign languages, namely English. Language purists have portrayed the proposal as a part of a takeover of Anglophone culture, while others say it’s the only way to maintain the status of French universities.
