Locals squeezed out of gentrified Paris district

Issued on:

Like all cities, Paris is constantly changing, as neighbourhoods attract new workers and residents. Faubourg Saint-Denis is an example of one district in the capital which is becoming gentrified, as people with more money settle there and push up property prices. Some longstanding residents are pleased that run-down areas are being revitalised, but others describe a certain regret for the loss of a familiar local culture and atmosphere. RFI talked to people in the district about how its changing.
