The largest-ever exhibition devoted to the haj - the annual pilgrimage to Mecca that every Muslim is supposed to make at least once in their lifetime - has just opened at Paris's Arab World Institute. Launched in London in 2012 where it was a huge hit, "Haj: journey to the heart of Islam" charts the history of this very personal journey. France has Europe's largest Muslim community and some 25,000 French Muslims make the haj each year. The exhibition hopes to draw believers and non-believers alike.
