Five drones seen flying over Paris overnight
At least five drones were seen flying over several areas of Paris during the night of Monday to Tuesday between midnight and 6am, according to a police source. Their operators could not be identified.
Issued on:
The first drone was seen flying over the US Embassy shortly after midnight. “The Eiffel Tour, the Invalides and even the Concorde were also buzzed,” the source said.
“It could be a coordinated action but we don’t know anything more for the moment,” the source explained.
Various police services were mobilized during the night, without any success.
“We did everything to try and intercept the operators but they weren’t tracked down,” another source regretted.
The gendarmerie air transport research unit is in charge of investigating into the flight over the US Embassy. The other drone flights will be probed by Paris’ police force.
A little over a month ago, on 20 January, a drone flew over the Elysee Palace, “but there have never been so many drones seen flying over Paris in one night,” a police source said.
Over the past months, about twenty drones were also spotted flying over nuclear sites in France. Authorities were unable to identify any of them.
