Cycling-mad French President Nicolas Sarkozy has invited French stars of the Tour de France to the Elysée presidential palace once the race is over on Sunday.

All French competitors who won a stage will have the chance to meet the president, as will their sporting directors, the Elysée announced Saturday as the race approached Paris.

The guest will be Sylvain Chavanel, who won two stages this year, Sandy Casar, Christophe Riblon, Thomas Voeckler, Pierrick Fédrigo, who all won one stage, and Anthony Chrteau, who won the best climber’s jersey.

Sarkozy, who is a keen amateur cyclist, went to see the Tour on Thursday, as he has done on three previous occasions during his pesidency.
