Trailing 1-0 after 30 minutes, Villa scored two goals on either side of halftime to reach the final where they face Arsenal.

Philippe Coutinho had given Liverpool the lead but Christian Benteke scored the equaliser just six minutes later. Fabian Delph scored Villa’s winning goal in the 54th minute.

The semifinal win is special for Aston Villa as this is the first time it has reached an FA Cup final in 15 years.

On the other hand, the trophy drought for Liverpool continues. The club has not won any silverware since 2012.

It was not a memorable day for Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard, who is due to join LA Galaxy at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Arsenal will be playing their 19th FA Cup final after winning their semifinal encounter against Reading on Saturday. Alexis Sanchez scored the only goal of the match.

A win in the final on May 30 would give Arsenal the trophy for a record breaking 12th time.
