Di Maria went through a series of extensive tests at the Doha Aspetar sports hospital, telling beIN Sports that he was “very happy” to join the French club.

“They are a team who won all possible titles in France last season,” said the 27-year-old. “They're very important.”

Di Maria had been given permission by the Premier League team to fly to the Qatari capital for talks with PSG officials, according to the AFP news agency.

Before visiting the hospital, Di Maria was seen arriving at the airport taking photos with fans.

"I know too that they want to overcome the obstacle of the quarter-finals in the Champions League,” Di Maria told the Qatari sports channel. “I will try to bring my best to help the team. We'll try to go as far as possible in the Champions League."

Di Maria scored four goals in 32 appearances for Manchester United. The winger scored three goals and made four assists in his first six games at Old Trafford. However, he then spent time on the sidelines with injury and fell out of favour with United coach Louis van Gaal.
