Andy Murray’s double celebration

Scottish tennis prodigy Andy Murray celebrated both the end of a losing streak to Novak Djokovic and the birth of a child for his coach Amélie Mauresmo on Sunday at the ATP Montreal Masters.

Murray beat world number one Djokovic 6-4, 4-6, 6-4, claiming his fourth title of the season after losing his last eight matches to the Serb in a string of defeats dating back more than two years.

The victory came hours after the news that Mauresmo had given birth.

Murray, unique among top players in being coached by a woman, said he has seen a picture of his French mentor's baby.

"I don't know much detail because we just saw a picture of her and the baby this morning when we got up," he said.

Murrray said that any decision Mauresmo might take on her coaching future will remain open through 2015 and possibly beyond.

"It doesn't change anything through the end of this year because we've had six months since we found out to plan and talk about things," Murray said of the baby's birth.

On Monday Murray moved to second in the ATP rankings.

He now won 11 Masters 1,000 titles and 35 over all and denied Djokovic the chance of a 25th Masters trophy.

"I lost to a better player today. I lost to Andy, who I know very well. I did fight till the last point and did try my best. That's something that I take as a positive from this week," Djokovic said.

"Andy deserved the win. He stepped in, played some great shots. Most of all the moments when he needed to, he served very, very well. He just came up always with big serves, so I couldn't do much."
