Thousands of bags stranded at Paris airport due to computer glitch
Thousands of air passengers took off from Paris’s main airport without their luggage on Friday because computer-error had caused security scanners to break down. Airport authorities promised to send the bags on but were unable to say when they would arrive.

Between 8,000-10,000 bags were left on the ground as their owners flew to far-away destinations as a computer glitch blacked out the images on scanners at two terminals of Paris’s Charles-De-Gaulle airport.
Hundreds of planes took off before baggage-handlers could load passengers’ suitcases on to them.
The problem started at 5.00am and took several hours to put right, airport authorities said.
Four hours later back-up screens and extra personnel were able to compensate for some of the problem but it was not until 1.00pm that the breakdown was finally repaired and service restored, although still at a slower pace than usual.
Officials said the bags would be went on later flights.
Roissy-Charles-De Gaulle airport handles about 80,000 items of luggage every day.
