Avalanche kills seven climbers in French Alps
Seven people have died in an avalanche in the French Alps. The tragedy struck at around midday on Tuesday at the Snow Dome in the Massif des Ecrins, a 4,015-metre high mountain which is hugely popular with climbers.

At least eight people were swept away by the avalanche.
One person was injured in the leg.
At least five of the victims were not French, officials said on Tuesday.
They were transferred to nearby Briançon by helicopter.
Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve offered his "sincere condolences" to the families and friends of the victims.
Last winter at least 28 people died in avalanches in France.
