Strong winds to hit France, 12 regions on alert
Heavy rains and winds are predicted for Monday. An orange alert has been put in place for a dozen French regions.

Strong winds and giant waves are expected on the French Atlantic coast and Mediterranean beaches.
Large waves are feared in Finistère region, Morbihan, Loire Atlantique, Vendée, Landes, Charente Maritime, Gironde, Pyrénées Atlantiques, Var, Bouches du Rhône and Corsica.
“Active stormy conditions are traveling through the country, from the south-west to north-east,” said the Météo France weather service.
“On the Atlantic coast, strong wings that have strengthened overnight will last into daytime on Monday,” said the French forecaster.
“Heavy waves in this high tides period are expected in the afternoon,” it added.
The strongest winds were expected to hit the Mediterranean region around midday although the orange alert could last until Tuesday morning.
Corsica should record winds of 150 kilometres per hour before cooling on Tuesday.
High winds can be accompanied by a high avalanche risk in the Alps.
Temperatures will vary on Monday between 2 to 7°C in the north, 5 to 11°C in Brittany and 10 to 14°C in the south.
A cold winter weather is suddenly expected for Thursday.
