Iran's Ahmadinejad visits Africa

Issued on:

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmandinejad began a tour of three African countries yesterday. As head of the non-alignement movement, he started his tour with a one-day visit to Benin, followed today by a two-day visit to Niger and ending in Ghana. There is much talk about the purpose of this visit, as it it is technically his last one as president before elections in June. Ahmandinejad's current mandate ends in August but he can't run for a third consecutive term this year.
