Afghanistan's green-on-blue attacks increase as pull-out approaches

As the 2014 deadline for the withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan approaches, the number of attacks on Western soldiers by their Afghan counterparts is increasing. Yesterday the number of US soldiers killed in these "green-on-blue" attacks reached 2,000. The level of such insider attacks has risen sharply this year and looks on target to almost double compared to last year. Already 52 foreign soldiers have been killed in green-on-blue attacks, compared to 35 during all of 2011.
